Here, I studied a UAL Level 3 in Art and Design, more specifically, photography. Here, I became proficient in camera operation, composition, lighting techniques, and post-processing, and it helped me to gain a versatile skill set spanning various photography genres and styles. Additionally, studying here gave me a grasp of business and marketing concepts for photography.
As well as digital photography, I immersed myself in all formats, including medium and large formats, and I'd made a pinhole camera out of an old Strongbow can!
During my studies, I was honored to be selected as a finalist in the Wolverhampton Young Photographer of the Year competition, which not only highlighted my talent and creativity but also provided invaluable exposure and networking opportunities. This experience significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth in the field of photography.
Below are some examples of the work I completed here.
For my FMP, I was motivated by the charm of family portraits and the captivating appeal of Renaissance-era art, I set out on a creative journey to blend modernity with ethnic diversity in that aesthetic.
I captured the essence of my heritage through photographs of my grandfather, family, and close friends. Using editing software, I turned these images into versions reminiscent of classical paintings, infused with richness and authority. Each edit was a nod to the inherent wealth and power of these individuals.
These final images and a large sketchbook full of extensive research and ideas awarded me a distinction as my final grade.
